“Geometry/Astronomy of Space” intends to let this years’ campers explore the earliest misunderstandings and understandings of geocentric to heliocentric Universe representations as the roles of astronomers like Aristotle, Ptolemy, Copernicus, Brahe, Kepler, Galilei and Newton promoted that development through time with a focused attention of how geometric mathematics and motion plays a part in their discoveries. Some special interest investigations will be included on retrograde, Laws of Planetary Motion: Orbits/Areas/Periods, accurate 3-D constellation constructions, and celestial sphere modeling. A potential trip to UTC’s Clarence Jones Observatory is being considered while use of virtual reality apps and other tools might also be available to support studies. Pool day on Friday!
